Printt secures £1 million investment

Remote printing platform Printt has raised over £1 million of investment to expand its offering throughout the UK. The raise comes as traditional office and business printing become even more complex, less convenient, and less economical in a hybrid and remote-working culture.

Printt was founded by three entrepreneurs while at university, and is now the UK’s leading platform for on-demand A4 printing, with over 400,000 individual users, and over 1,000 business accounts in the UK, including the likes of Microsoft, Slack, Nike, NHS, Specsavers, Disney, and the Home Office.

The software scale-up offers businesses and individuals the ability to print A4 documents without having to own a printer, by offering on-demand delivery and click & collect services to replace the archaic model of traditional printing.

According to Gartner:

  • 90% of companies don’t track their printing costs, or know how many printers they have
  • 50% of IT helpdesk queries relate to printing
  • Each employee prints an average of 10,000 pages every year

Printt co-founder and CEO Ruslan Khazarchiev notes:

“Many companies disregard the cost of printing because their contracts are too complex and difficult to understand, and they don’t realise how much money they’re leaving on the table. We want the printing process to be transparent and predictable, which is why we founded Printt, and which is what this fundraise will help us achieve on an even greater scale.”

As many services and amenities shift to an on-demand model, Printt aims to free businesses from expensive hardware that’s costly and inconvenient to run and maintain, and provide them with a far more trackable, efficient, and economical alternative. The £1 million raise will allow Printt to compete further with the traditional printing giants whose model is no longer fit for purpose.

Printt’s software connects those needing to print with those who have the facilities, allowing users to upload any file type, print A4 pages in colour or black & white, single- or double-sided, and bind and laminate documents as required. Customers can then choose to pick up their documents from a network of local print shops, or have them delivered to an address of their choice, meaning the printing becomes a far smoother process and more accessible experience for many. By removing the need for a personal printer, Print also prevents thousands of machines from entering landfill.

For businesses, Printt enables all expenses to run through a single pay-as-you-go account, with unlimited users, trackable spending, and budget limits, eliminating the need for centralised printer hardware and the associated upkeep and support.

Businesses can also use Printt’s carbon-neutral printing solutions with no impact on their corporate emissions targets. Printt works with the production facilities and click & collect partners that are net-zero, and all use FSC-approved paper sources.

Those businesses can also rest assured about the security of their files. Printt only works with facilities that comply with GDPR recommended printing flows, ensuring the ultimate security and privacy for customers’ printing and data.

Printt’s click & collect offering is currently available in over 300 locations in the UK through its relationship with high street stationery giant Ryman. The £1 million fundraise will accelerate the expansion of Printt’s partner network and broaden even further the range of its click & collect locations. It will also enable the company to reach more UK businesses to offer a smarter printing solution for the digital age.

Philip Balkanski, CPO and Co-founder:

‘The traditional model of printing just doesn’t make sense anymore. Expensive ink, costly maintenance, time-consuming IT support, and untracked spending are unnecessarily wasteful when businesses can be far more efficient with their costs. Businesses are always going to need printing, so I’m thrilled that we will be able to offer an economical and convenient alternative to the old approach.’

Marat Khazarchiev, COO and Co-founder:

‘The world of work looks very different from just a few years ago. People routinely work from home at least some of the week, and many of our working patterns are radically more flexible than they used to be. What hasn’t changed is the need to print files. Rather than managing the complexity of providing printing hardware, or approving and paying individuals’ printing expenses, businesses can streamline the whole process. We’re delighted to be making that option available to even more of the UK market.
