GetWelp secures £250k Pre-Seed investment from investors including Nigel Wray and Deborah Okenla

GetWelp raises pre-seed from leading investors to build SaaS for dog trainers

GetWelp, a software company rebuilding the dog training experience for both trainer and dog owner, has raised it’s pre-seed of £250k. The software company based in London has raised funding from investors including Nigel Wray and Deborah Okenla, part of top European VC Atomico’s 2021 Angel Syndicate.

Co-Founders James Roycroft-Davis and Andrew Robinson, realised in early 2021 that the world of dog training was being left behind when compared to progressive companies innovating in the world of Pet Care and Pet Tech. But dog trainers around the world have never been busier – with over two million dogs bought in the UK during the pandemic they realised that the end to end experience of how a dog trainer manages their businesses needed completely rethinking, before building the go-to marketplace solution which connects a dog owner with a dog trainer anywhere in the world. Their mission now is to be the most dog trainer focused software company on the planet, so the pressure on the dog training industry can finally be relieved.

 James Roycroft-Davis, GetWelp’s CEO, said:

“I’m absolutely delighted we’ve secured this funding from some of the UK’s top Angel investors. They are people who I’ve admired for a long time and who now are helping me build this business. We are delighted that they see the scope of the opportunity, and what to come on the journey. It’s our mission to be the most dog trainer, and dog owner friendly software company on the planet, and to solve the huge issues facing the training world today. Together I believe we can do it.”

Deborah Okenla, part of Atomico’s Angel Cohort said:

“The pandemic led to a massive pet boom, as a result we seen many of our furry friends spend the best part of puppyhood indoors, leading to a lack socialisation and or training. Dog Trainers and Dog Behaviourists became high in demand, motivated to solve the crisis, trying hard to scale their businesses, yet without the adequate infrastructure or software to do so. GetWelp is solving this! I’m super excited to be backing such a purpose led and timely startup. As we are seeing more millennials opt to have furry friends before children, this is the future.”
