Your Flock secures £100k grant funding from Innovate UK

“Manchester #remote team #tech #startup Your FLOCK gets £100K backing from Innovate UK – and a major new hire.”

Manchester based local tech startup Your FLOCK is set to be one of the companies to be funded by @innovateuk. As part of the UK wide Sustainable Innovation Fund. With 1,103 projects and 1189 UK businesses helped so far the Sustainability Innovation Fund managed by Innovate UK – will total £130 million worth of extra support across the UK to help companies innovate and add value to society which is needed during the times of Covid. As Innovate UK Executive Chair Dr Ian Campbell says:

YourFLOCK.co.uk along with every initiative Innovate UK has supported through this fund, is an important step forward in driving sustainable economic development. Each one is also helping to realise the ambitions of hard-working people. In these difficult times we have seen the best of British business #innovation. The pandemic is not just a health emergency but one that impacts society and the economy.”

And why choose Your FLOCK? As Your FLOCK is a digital coaching platform. Built to help #remoteworking teams discover and strengthen their core values. And so during times of lockdown, working from home and the coronavirus situation. Your FLOCK’s online platform will help businesses investigate and understand their #remoteworkers more. Especially those from younger generations and those new to #RemoteWork.

And Your FLOCK are recruiting themselves, using their own technology to help them do so, with a front end developer on their plans for expansion. And a new senior hire already in the form of Artur Grzybowski.

Artur will come in as their product and project management lead as well as UX expert. With big brand experience working with the likes of Jaguar Land Rover. And also tech entrepreneurial experience himself. As founder of VirtualSpeech.com a VR public speaking app that helps people with their public speaking and communication – now with over 200,000 users globally.

He will use this experience and more recent CTO knowhow from Immotion.co.uk to manage Your FLOCK new software and hardware teams as well as to visually translate the purpose and the potential of their new technology. So Your FLOCK can raise the investment they need to grow, develop, and scale.

Which is the plan as co founder and CEO Michal Wisniewski states:

“With £100,000 from Innovate UK, Your FLOCK are now looking to find further £140,000 from private investment. And have already secured a commitment of £50,000 from GC Angels so we are now looking to raise the remaining £90,000 by the end of this year. We at Your FLOCK feel truly honoured to be selected as we know how competitive these schemes get. This is a huge break for Your FLOCK as we pivoted our HR tech solution in June 2020. And this funding will significantly improve and accelerate our development.”

This development is to move into machine learning and AI over the next year. Hopefully helping Your FLOCK have a big social impact on how companies in the NW recruit and analyse their own company cultures. The technology is set to have a BIG social impact on the future of work which is why BBC digital marketing and tech expert Dan Sodergren invested in Your FLOCK two years ago. As Sodergren says…

“It’s amazing that now the government and Innovate UK have seen the same potential for Your FLOCK as I did. It might have taken something like the social impact of #coronavirus to help them see. But the #futureofwork is really around recruiting and hiring people based on their joint values. And using technology to help them do so.”

With 45% of the UK workforce working remotely today. Up from 5% last year. Your FLOCK is in a good position to help capitalize on the new trends. As one in every five people lonely when working from home. The feeling of loneliness has an impact on our well-being and research finds that people feeling lonely at work are 21% less productive. Such post covid times will need more productive teams and as culture/value mismatch costs the UK economy almost £24bn a year due to people leaving and low productivity. Perhaps this investment from the UK government comes in just the right time.
