Couples-led divorce service, amicable, closes £1.2m investment round to accelerate growth

  • Lawyer-free divorce firm, amicable, secures an additional £1.2m investment through 24Haymarket and an existing group of angel investors
  • The funding further cements amicable’s position as the leading couples-led divorce service, and will support the business’ investment in its people and technology
  • The news precedes the introduction of the No Fault Divorce laws in April this year, the biggest change to divorce law in 50 years

LONDON, UK – 23rd March 2022– amicable, the company that has pioneered the couples-led divorce service, has secured a further £1.2m in funding, led by 24Haymarket and existing angel investors.

The funding follows a period of rapid growth for the business and comes at a pivotal time for the industry, with new No Fault divorce legislation coming into effect in Spring 2022. The introduction of the new No Fault divorce law will remove the blame game from the divorce process, and the funding is testament to amicable being perfectly placed to deliver kinder, friendlier divorces across the UK.

This round follows previous angel investment in the award winning LawTech firm, which has set the bar for positive disruption in the family law sector and supports thousands of couples each year.

amicable will use the investment to reach more customers, grow the team and to develop new technology to assist couples with their financial settlements.

Commenting on this latest funding, Pip Wilson, CEO of amicable says:

“From inception, amicable has disrupted the family law market by taking a customer-eyed view of the legal services sector. We now stand on the edge of the biggest change to divorce laws in over 50 years and we are hugely excited by the opportunity to help more couples and shape a changing narrative around divorce for our customers.

We are delighted to be working with 24 Haymarket and our fantastic angel investors in order to take the business to the next stage. amicable is poised to help thousands more couples and families navigate separation, and this latest investment will enable that success”

Commenting on the new funding, James Campin, Investment Executive of 24Haymarket, says:

“We are delighted to be partnering with Pip, Kate and the wider amicable team at this exciting point in their journey. The business is in an excellent position to grow its reach following the incoming No Fault divorce legislation and continue to provide a service enabling individuals to work together and co-parent after separation. Following this capital injection, we hope that more individuals will be aware of amicable’s offering to divorce harmoniously rather than get bogged down with the often long, difficult, and expensive traditional lawyer-led approach”

About amicable:

Working with customers since 2017, amicable is a lawyer-free online divorce service that has helped thousands of couples ‘untie the knot’ without the acrimony or expense. The platform harnesses a unique combination of technology and psychology to help couples to divorce, separate and co-parent amicably.

In 2020 amicable won a landmark High Court Judgment challenging the lawyer vs lawyer approach to divorce and separation. This validated amicable’s approach of only working with couples, rather than representing individuals. This method reduces conflict and acrimony by focusing on the future and what’s best for the entire family. It is also up to five times cheaper than using separate lawyers.
