Huzzle secures £218k Pre-Seed investment from 10x Founders

Huzzle Receives $300,000 Pre-Seed Funding From 10x Founders

London – 1 September 2021

Career-management tool for students, Huzzle, has received $300,000 from 10x Founders. The platform launches during September’s freshers’ week with a target of 100 of the most forward-thinking employers and thousands of career-focused societies at the best UK universities.

Huzzle was designed by students for students and closes age-old recruitment gaps between amazing companies and applicants at the start of their careers.

Students join by entering their interests, course and year of study. They then receive just a few, highly targeted matches a week – including competitions, events and workshops run by university societies – and they apply instantly in the app. The opportunities become more accurate over time as Huzzle’s algorithm learns from more than 1,000 data points derived from students and companies.

Businesses of any size have the first holistic university recruitment tool. They can easily target the best potential interns and hires with appropriate opportunities because students are pre-qualified and truly interested in the role. Opportunities are ranked by employees’ benefits, including applicant experience, rather than firms paying for ads thus shifting the focus from companies’ brands to the value of the opportunities.

University career societies, so vital in today’s student careers ecosystem whether running events, CV workshops or organising work experience programmes, now have a standardised online hub to engage with students and network with employers. With a simple QR-code sign-up via browser, societies are able to easily acquire members during freshers’ fair. They can then advertise and track events and attendees and companies can easily approach them with sponsorship and speaker offers or vice versa.

To further help support and guide students on their journey, the app offers career mentors, employee ambassadors, application progress-tracking, and typical career path information.

Founding Partner and Managing Director, 10x Founders, Robert Wuttke, says: “I believe that the next generation of students will use Huzzle to enter the world of work, because it brings clarity and convenience to a career market that has been fragmented and underserved by tech solutions.”

Even in the beta stage, Huzzle gained over 2,000 signups, 46% coming from referrals. The company has partnered with over 30 student societies, at top universities including Oxbridge, LSE, UCL, Imperial, King’s, Queen Mary University of London, and Warwick. The startup is supported by UCL Innovation & Enterprise and is part of the Hatchery, its incubator.

On the employer side, Huzzle has already helped Mulesoft, a Salesforce subsidy, hire new employees. The applicant-to-hire ratio was 50:1 vs 129:1, the industry average. They also had engagements with Pegasystems and EY.
