Affordable therapy company UK Therapy Guide receives £450,000 seed investment to expand its support and range of services
Today, UK Therapy Guide announces it has raised £450,000 of seed investment from an angel investor. The money will be used to help the platform, which already works with hundreds of ethical, accredited therapists, psychotherapists and counsellors, expand its reach and range of services.
The investment represents the therapy platform’s first ever funding round. It was founded in 2012 by practicing psychotherapist Floss Knight in response to the growing need for accessible, affordable mental health support. It has since grown organically, and the funding is the start of an aggressive growth phase for the company.
The investment will be used to expand the UK Therapy Guide team. Founder Floss Knight has been promoted to CEO and will oversee the company’s recruitment drive, as it hopes to attract thousands more therapists to its nationwide directory within the next year. When joining UK Therapy Guide, mental health professionals can work with clients across the country, unrestricted by their location, and receive support on marketing their business from UK Therapy Guide’s in-house team of experts.
The company is also planning on expanding its offering with new bespoke services for particular groups at-risk of worsening mental health, such as students.
Floss Knight, CEO of UK Therapy Guide says:
“We are all so passionate about delivering quality, affordable and accessible therapy here at UK Therapy Guide and are absolutely thrilled to have received £450,000 of seed funding to support our ambitious plans over the next year.
“Since the pandemic, we have noticed a huge uptick in people worried about their mental wellbeing – we increased the number of first appointments more than twelvefold between February 2020 and January 2021. We offered NHS and care home workers half-price therapy, and also launched low-cost therapy to support the significant number of people who feel precluded by private therapy price points.
“It is a real honour to have helped so many – but there is so much more to be done. Everyone at the rapidly-growing UK Therapy Guide headquarters is thankful to our investors for their backing. The British public’s mindset around mental health is changing and we are incredibly excited to be at the forefront of this.”
