Minoro (t/a Kleene.ai) secures £1.09 million Seed investment led by Episode 1

kleene.ai raises $1.5m to build a data processing platform for data driven companies

LONDON

kleene.ai, the end-to-end data processing platform, today announced its first funding round led by Episode 1, with participation from Superseed and industry-leading angel investors.

After launching in 2017, the company is already working with scale-ups like The Modern Milkman, Blue Light Card and VROMO. The capital raised will be used to expand the team, deliver the product road map (including support for Microsoft’s Azure Synapse Analytics and Google’s BigQuery), and to expand its wide array of data connectors.

kleene.ai offers companies the ability to unlock the analytics value in their data without needing to hire data engineers.

The company was founded by Andrew Thomas (CEO) and Matt Sawyer (CDO), who previously worked together at JustEat. Andrew and Matt realised that companies incurred huge time and financial costs when making their data ready for analysis. That’s why they founded kleene.ai, to help companies leverage the value of the data that they collected.

With the rise of cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, came a step change in the computing power available to process big data. However, this also created a proliferation of complexity and cost in unlocking value. Andrew and Matt were joined by CTO Ben Long, formerly of Momondo, to architect and develop a data platform specifically designed for analysts to accelerate the time to generate insights.

By directly empowering analysts and business users to manage their end-to-end data process, kleene.ai improves a company’s speed to insight by 10x and saves at least $50-80K per year on data engineering hires.

Andrew Thomas, CEO of kleene.ai commented:

“Most companies now realise that they can’t continue to compete without underpinning decision making with data but when looking to leverage a cloud data warehouse the choice they face is either outsource the processing of data to expensive agencies or hire data engineering and build this internally. With our platform, businesses can put the power of data engineering in the hands of their analysts and achieve a massive acceleration in value in a much shorter time while retaining the valuable knowledge about their own business logic in-house.”

Simon Murdoch, Partner of Episode 1, added:

“kleene is a brilliant solution allowing the data analysts to build and maintain their own data warehouse from their company’s many sources of data. Analysts can then focus their time on finding insights to transform the fortunes of their companies. kleene is a great investment not just for our fund but for all our portfolio companies.”.

Global Data Integration is the engine driving the value of the Big Data revolution. Current market projections show “The global data integration and integrity software market size stood at USD 7,920.7 Mn in 2018 and is projected to reach USD 20,044.9 Mn by the end of 2026, exhibiting a CAGR of 12.5% during the forecast period from 2019 to 2026” (Fortune Business insights, 2019)

kleene.ai provides a cloud software-as-a-service solution to enable data extraction, loading and transformation with tools to empower analysts and business users alike to interact with and extract value from their data.

Matt Sawyer, CDO of kleene.ai added:

“For analysts this means getting up and running in minutes, able to bring together data from all of your data sources into one single source of truth and work natively with your cloud data warehouse of choice, without losing time on hiring engineers, dealing with security, learning git or python and without the complexities of the deployment mechanisms or other architectural challenges.”
