BOARD INTELLIGENCE ANNOUNCES MINORITY INVESTMENT FROM SUSQUEHANNA GROWTH EQUITY Capital to support improved products and services for clients and new talent across the company
LONDON, U.K. — Board Intelligence Limited (“Board Intelligence” or “The Company”), a London based provider of software and services to corporate boards, today announced a minority equity investment from Susquehanna Growth Equity, LLC (“SGE”). Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Board Intelligence is a mission-led firm, helping boards to become the most powerful drivers of performance and a force for good. Launched in 2014, the Company’s platform makes it easy for management teams to prepare smart board papers, turning the board deck from an obstacle to effective meetings and into a catalyst for driving focused and productive conversations that accelerate an organization forward. Board Intelligence will use its new capital to expand its products and services for existing and new clients and add talent across the company.
“Amidst the horrors of the Covid-19 pandemic the business world is changing. There is growing recognition of the need to deliver for all stakeholders, and this in turn demands a revolution in governance — from compliance to something positive and transformational. That is the change that we exist to deliver,” said Jennifer Sundberg, Co CEO of Board Intelligence.
“The vast majority of business leaders want to do a good job, not just for themselves but for the organizations they govern and for wider society,” added Pippa Begg, Co-CEO of Board Intelligence. “However, too often, boards feel constrained by lengthy, backward-looking and operational board papers, getting in the way of the conversations in the boardroom that matter most.”
Board Intelligence serves the boards of many of the largest listed, privately owned and public sector organizations in the U.K. and across the world. The Company has grown rapidly, building a subscriber base of over 20,000 executive and non-executive directors. As one of the U.K.’s fastest-growing technology companies, the founders of Board Intelligence have been shortlisted by the 2020 EY Entrepreneur of the Year program.
“Our team connected deeply with the mission of Board Intelligence. Boards should be a point of leverage, and I’ve seen first-hand the inefficiencies that stem from poor quality reporting,” commented Jonathan Klahr, Managing Director at SGE. “The ripple effect of an improvement in the boardroom will be felt far and wide, by customers, employees, society and of course shareholders. We look forward to supporting Board Intelligence as the firm continues to grow and empower boards across industries.”
Sundberg and Begg both added, “We are thrilled to be partnering with SGE. Throughout our process, we focused on our long-term ambition, which drove our decision to partner with SGE who provides a flexible investment mandate and long-term approach to growing businesses.”
SGE has invested in more than 55 growth-stage companies throughout the firm’s 14-year history. The firm prides itself on its ability to provide founders and management teams with capital without a predetermined exit timeline and with expertise to help accelerate their growth journeys.
