Auro secures £500k Seed investment from Blackfinch

Blackfinch Invests in Innovative Fitness Technology Company Auro The London-based company provides tailored audio-based workouts via its mobile app

Blackfinch has invested c.£500,000 in London-based company Auro, founded in 2016. Auro offers a fitness app that provides its users with tailored audio-based workouts.

The Artificial Intelligence-driven app has over 65,000 users. Since launch, the company has generated traction and revenue through its partner strategy, already securing partnerships with tier-1 companies such as O2 and Wiggle on the strength of its initial product.

Auro provides hundreds of guided workouts and plans for users at all levels in their fitness journey. Users’ goals can vary, from increasing stamina to losing weight or training for a half marathon. Workouts include High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), strength building, treadmill running and yoga exercises as well as many others.

Auro provides training that is personalised to each user, including structured training plans which can be for the gym, outdoors or at home. Users can choose from the motivating playlists that are curated by Auro’s trainers or stream music from their own Spotify account.

The workouts are led by world-class instructors and certified personal trainers and because the sessions are audio-based, users don’t have to watch their screen whilst exercising. The investment from Blackfinch will help to drive customer acquisition and expand Auro’s technical team, to increase the personalisation of algorithms.

Anta Pattabiraman, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Auro, said:

“The whole team is delighted to have Blackfinch on board. Its investment will allow us to grow our tech and traction rapidly in the fitness market.”

Dr Reuben Wilcock, Ventures Director at Blackfinch, said:

“Anta and his team are highly efficient in executing their vision and have an impressive technology roadmap and route to market strategy.”

Blackfinch is an established provider of Enterprise Investment Schemes (EIS). Backed by expertise and a broad network of relationships, the Blackfinch Ventures EIS Portfolios bring access to EIS tax benefits, along with the prospect of significant returns for investors.
